Rd 1 - Welcome to Ground and Pound 101. Class dismissed! Rd 2 - I disagree with the commentator who sayed they should be made to stand and that it 'is not fair to Lucas..' Lucas was in an open guard and could have stepped back at any time from then on. Maybe I'm just old school MMA mentality. I don't think fighters should be made to stand. This sport came from a near no hold barred (no biting or gouging) competition of man against man, to see who was the best fighter. If a mans plan to beat or submit another guy in 1-15 minutes of having him on the ground, and that opportunity is taken from him, does that not take away from his game plan? Back in the day nobody could beat Royce Gracie in UFC, he beat men twice his weight, by keeping them in his world, on the ground, until he was finally able to submit them, sometimes in seconds and sometimes in munites. Although I agree; not a very exciting fight.

EJ, in the black Gi, is my son. This is his first BJJ tournament. There was a small number of kids in his weight class, so he wound up going against two kids that are blue belts (5 levels above him) At about 2 minutes in, you will hear the other coach telling his fighter to go for a triangle choke (lol....watch fight 2...against another boy from the same school). Props to this kid. He had great control of a majority of the fight. It was a good fight. EJ lost by one point on the cards.

Hey, I saw you smacked my sons video, asking what type of fighting. It was a Brazilian Jiu Jitsy tournament. EJ practices MMA (BJJ, Thai kickboxing, boxing...). Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is his main style. This was his first tournament. He went against 2 blue belts from a school in Nashville. If you haven't seen the second vid, he wins that one in fine fashion. He lost the first fight by one point. Not bad for going against kids that are 5 belt levels ahead of him. Thanks for viewing his video...and hopefully he will also reply to you.

EJ, in the black Gi, is my son. This is his first ever competition fight. He goes against a blue belt from another school in Middle Tennessee. EJ is a 4th degree white belt, quite a difference in experience here. If you notice the Guillotine choke at the beginning, my son was in great danger of being tapped out, however he hid his face from the ref (so he wouldn't see him turn purple) and winds up popping his head out. I was damn proud to see such a show of heart. HE wound up losing by 1 point, but went the full 5 minutes. I find it funny that the other coach is yelling (towrd the end) to triangle from mount (E was telling the kid, 'you can't triangle choke me!'), then watch fight 2 and see how it ends against another blue belt from the same school. E's signature move is the triangle choke....He is 13, I 36, and if he locks that trriangle on me, I will tap. It's tight.

Great interview Ron. To those who think Angle is 'just a wrestler': let us not forget that one of the Legends of MMA was a wrestler: Randy Couture. Anyone think Randy can't take a punch? Yeah, he can. I have to say that I don't like the character Kurt Angle on WWE, so there I always hope he gets his ass kicked. In the MMA world, I welcome him from a fans perspective and look forward to some exciting fights from him in whichever Org he may eventually sign with. Only time will tell if he can make the transition from WWE to MMA.

Never saw Thompson fight, but look forward to seeing him again in the future. He was looking for that choke from the time they hit the ground and patiently waited for it. He made that dude look like he was choking on a sour candy.

Nice cage awareness by Daley in the first. I heard the announcer say like 3 times that would have been a reversal, but never gave Daley his due for knowing where he was and using it to his advantage. Nice fight. Good finish.

Was a quick fight with an ending that should have been avoided. I had no fav on this fight, hell, I never heard of either fighter.... however; it would have been hard to root for a guy who went in named after my underwear. Edson Berto may go somewhere. We'll have to see....
